0 Recycling: Creating The Workshop

With us needing every tool I own, plus buying tools we'd never needed before, it became clear that we needed a central location to keep everything.  So as I was destroying all the old kitchen cabinets to be tossed in the dumpster, I realized I should hold on to a few of them for storage in the garage.  We have a 2-stall garage, that still has all of our furniture, framed pictures, etc., along with a 1-stall garage that houses all the musical equipment and (formerly) my '77 International Scout.  Being that it's off the kitchen/back hallway, it's the perfect spot for a workshop.

The framework & hooks were already there for the extension cords.  The fridge I found on Craigslist for $30 (working, plus freezer!), and at 4' high, is much better for beers than a tiny dorm style fridge.  I chose a few of the upper cabinets from the kitchen to use up top, along with cutting the countertop to fit between the fridge and the wall.  It's sitting on two PA speakers, which I plan to have running with an old receiver from either a garage sale or from Craigslist.

I used a few other upper cabinets on the other side of the garage to hold car tools & fluids, and used the old marble-topped desk pieces from the living room area to create another smaller work surface & lower shelving:

And then once the band practice space was in place, the final result is this:

Although, I'm supposed to be buying a Miter Saw & Vise this afternoon, so my counterspace might need to expand very soon...
